Amelie victorious at SudelfeldAmelie Kober won the 2012 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup season's third parallel giant slalom which was held at Sudelfeld/Bayrischzell. She was able to beat Marion Kreiner from Austria in the women's final thus repeating her win of 2010 on her home slope. All riders enjoyed the cheering of the hundredths of spectators in the finish area who were all crossing fingers for the German riders, especially for Amelie Kober who grew up just some ten minutes away from the race slope at Waldkopf. In the end, their support paid off. “The crowd was amazing. I was able to hear them at the start. In the finish area it was even more extreme. The support pushed and motivated me a lot.” Thanks to this extra motivation, the 24-years-old from Fischbachau was able to get rid of her nervousness which she had to handle in the qualifiers. “The day started pretty clumsy. I was shaking a bit in the qualifiers. It took me a while to get into my rhythm. I'm very happy and glad that everything turned out fine in the end.” A nice understatement as the so far most successful rider at Sudelfeld (victory in 2010 and 2012, runner-up in 2009) was not only able to better her so far great pgs results in the running season (Tellurde: 3rd, Carezza, 2nd) but also jumped from sixth to second rank in the Parallel World Cup Standings (3,680 points) being only a mere of 160 points behind of World Cup leader Patritzia Kummer (SUI, 3,840). www.fissnowboard.com <-back |
